# How do I activate the Surfpay cash register?

To get started with Surfpay's electronic cash register, follow these steps:

1. Log in to [surfboardmerchant.com](https://surfboardmerchant.com)
2. Visit **Cash register**: [https://surfboardmerchant.com/ecr](https://surfboardmerchant.com/ecr)
3. Select your store (if you have multiple locations)
4. Click on **+ New cash register**

6. Click on **Activate**
7. Visit the information page for the registered cash register to obtain the details required for reporting to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket): [Skatteverket – anmäl kassaregister](https://www.skatteverket.se/foretag/drivaforetag/kassaregister/saharanmalerdukassaregister.4.69ef368911e1304a62580008748.html)

8. Update your **Surfpay CheckoutX app** by pulling down on the home screen.
9. Now, **"Open Shift"** will appear, and the cash register will be ready for use.

ℹ️ Please note that as a merchant, you are required to register your cash register with the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket).
