# What is the technology used in the CheckoutX POS app?

Alongside other technologies, the CheckoutX POS app utilises the **mobile devices’ NFC chips** to transfer data between devices for making payments. This is called Contactless Payments on COTS (CPOC) as defined by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) and CheckoutX is **certified** for this use.
